According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, a typical 25-34-year-old has close to $22,000 sitting in the bank and 35-44 year-olds have close to $30,000 sitting in the bank. But if the money isn’t going to be used for a home loan deposit anymore, you should consider getting it out of the bank and make it work a lot harder than the 2-3% interest it earns now.
